As an active participant in the community, People For People is invested in education and introducing students to the employment possibilities within the non-profit community. We are excited to partner with local colleges and universities to sponsor eligible trainees for internship positions now available.

People For People has been serving the community with life enriching programs for over 40 years. These programs include: Employment and Training, On the Go Senior Nutrition, Transportation, 2-1-1 Information and Referral Services, Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Brokering Services and others. Our human service programs are diverse and could offer the student/intern appropriate training for educational field’s such as:

  • Human Services
  • Social Work
  • Human Resource Management
  • Business Administration
  • Health and Administration

If you do not see your specific educational field listed we may collaborate with you and your faculty advisor to modify our internship program to meet the needs of your practicum if we can provide appropriate training.

What does an internship with PFP provide the student?

  • Credits with approval from student’s educational establishment
  • Training in a field that reflects the student’s education
  • An evaluation for performance on the job that the trainee can utilize for future employers
  • A copy of their Washington State Patrol Background Check that the trainee can utilize for future employers
  • A copy of their drug screen that the trainee can utilize for future employers

What does the student need to do to participate?

It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3!

  1. Review the available intern positions
  2. Check with your college to see if they cooperate with our program
  3. Send a copy of your school’s practicum and a PFP application packet to:

    People For People
    Attention: HR Department
    304 West Lincoln Avenue
    Yakima, WA 98902

The intern is not entitled to a job at the conclusion of the internship. Interns may apply to be considered for open positions. For the purposes of the PFP Internship program, both the organization and the intern agree that entitlement of wages is not provided for the time spent in the internship.

The internship is considered similar to training in an educational environment, even though it includes actual operation of the facilities and People For People. The internship experience is for the benefit of the intern. The intern does not displace regular employees, but works under close supervision of existing staff.

People For People as the organization that provides training, derives no immediate advantage from the activities of the intern and on occasion our operations may be impeded.
